Skip David Murdoch has kept Scotland's chances of qualifying for the European Curling Championship play-offs alive going into the final group game. Scotland beat Latvia 8-2 to bounce back from a 5-2 defeat at the hands of Denmark, the joint leaders of the group with Sweden with just one loss from seven games.

Albert Riera could complete a move to Sunderland in January, according to a report this morning on the Daily Mail website.   Currently plying his trade for Galatasaray, Riera is allegedly earning £115,000 a week, so would certainly have to take a pay cut in order to complete a Premiership return.

Manchester United have poached wonderkid Charlie Jackson from bitter rivals Manchester City, convincing the player to switch allegiances despite the City fan being just five years old. Bizzarely, Jackson had been spotted almost two years earlier by Manchester City scouts, playing a local football scheme at the tender age of three.
