Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has hailed strike pair Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll following their performances in their 2-0 win over West Brom on Saturday evening. Suarez created both goals, the first a converted Charlie Adam penalty after he was tripped in the box and the second coming after he played through Carroll.

Craig Kieswetter has joined his England team-mates for practice in Hyderabad this morning after flying in from the Champions League T20. The wicketkeeper was struck on the arm during Somerset’s semi-final defeat to Mumbai Indians two days ago by Jos Buttler, who made a straight drive into his non-striker team mate.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger's hopes of signing Lille star Eden Hazard have taken a blow with the news that Real Madrid are planning to make a bid.   The Belgian midfielder has been one of Wenger's top transfer targets since the start of the year, but Lille were unwilling to sell over the summer.

Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has made a last ditch transfer deadline day deal for Liverpool midfielder Raul Meireles. The stamford Bridge club failed with a final £40million move for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Luka modric, who they were linked with throughout the summer transfer window.

  After his current team HTC High Road announced plans to wind up at the end of this season, Manchester rider  Mark Cavendish is believed to be finalising his move to Team Sky for 2012. "A number of teams have expressed interest in me riding for them in 2012," Cavendish wrote on his website.
