After the excitement in Shanghai earlier in the week, when
several of Britain’s women swimmers made it into the
finals of their events, it was 19-year old Ellen Gandy who
claimed a medal, winning silver for her performance in the
200m butterfly, and only narrowly missing out on gold.

Spofforth Bounces Back in Shaghai
Gemma Spofforth moved on from the disappointment of having
her 100 metres backstroke title defence destroyed by
sickness to book a 50m semi-final spot at the World
Championships in Shanghai. Spofforth claimed an emotional gold, which she dedicated to
her late mother, at the last World Championships in Rome two
years ago.
