World number four Roger Federer began the season-ending ATP Tour Finals in London's O2 Arena with victory over French powerhouse Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. The match wasn’t without drama, as Federer, having won the first set in just 21 minutes, lost the second, before destroying Tsonga’s fight in the 10th game of the decider.

*The British Olympic Association and the World Anti-Doping Agency are currently embroiled in a very public spat over whose rules over doping bans are correct. * The BOA ban any hopeful Olympian for life if they have tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs. WADA mete out two-year bans.

Manchester City have allegedly earmarked Borussia Monchengladbach star Marco Reus as a potential summer addition ot their glittering squad and will rival Arsenal in the race to sign the precocious frontman.   Reus, who is just 22, already has 2 caps for Germany and has a very bright future ahead of him.

Arsenal are reportedly set to increase their interest in Manchester United's highly-rated teenager Paul Pogba.   Gunners boss Arsene Wenger wanted to sign the 18-year-old midfielder before he chose to move to United in 2009 and, according to the Daily Star, is hopeful of sealing the deal at the second attempt.

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has hailed strike pair Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll following their performances in their 2-0 win over West Brom on Saturday evening. Suarez created both goals, the first a converted Charlie Adam penalty after he was tripped in the box and the second coming after he played through Carroll.
