British Rowing And British Rowers Need A Sponsor - Now!

One of the more incredible things I've found out recently is the staggering news that British rowing has failed to find a new title sponsor after the 6 year deal with Siemens ended in December 2012 while the individual rowers are also struggling to entice any individual sponsors. All I can say is that people have short memories. OK so rowing is not football not even rugby. It is a minor sport in this country compared to the big team sports and even the more individual sports such as golf Formula One and tennis. But it is also the sport that has carried Britain through so many recent Olympic Games when other sports fell by the wayside. Of course London 2012 was the pinnacle for rowing and indeed for so many other sports. Rowing brought home nine medals in total including four golds one of which won by Helen Glover and Heather Stanning proved to be Team GB's first. Another saw Katherine Grainger finally win gold after three back to back silvers producing one of the emotional highlights of the whole Games.

Providing the results go the right way I have finally finished my Legal Practice Course (LPC) which is such a relief as it hopefully means no more examsever!

Ive really enjoyed the past few weeks being back with the girls at Bisham training fulltime without my legal studies hanging over me. There are some incredibly talented young players in the squad who will hopefully show what they can do at the Investec World League which begins in Chiswick on June 22. Some of them are very young like Lilly Owsley who has just finished her A-Levels but its a very welcoming environment and they all seem to have settled in well. We had some warm up games against New Zealand (who we beat to Olympic bronze!) last week where we were trying to implement some of Jasons new ideas. Given we have a new coach and a lot of new faces a win a draw and a defeat from the series were solid results and tee us up nicely for our opening World League fixture against South Africa.

Chris Adcock Looks Forward To Further Badminton Exposure Following The 2012 London Olympics

Team GB badminton player Chris Adcock told Sportsvibe that he hopes to build on last years London Olympic success and get the sport further exposure. Adcock who is predominately a mixed doubles player encountered a disappointing Olympic Games getting knocked out in the first round but insisted that it was an incredible experience. Performing in front of your home crowd is always amazing but doing so at an Olympics Games was incredible said Adcock. He continued by praising the support around all of the sports The crowds definitely improved the medal count you could see that around the camp and people who you spoke with it took the athletes to another level. Whilst being able to take the athletes to another level at the time Adcock also hoped it would increase participation especially in badminton. It would be amazing to see badminton grow as a sport and holding the Olympic Games will definitely help that. If I could inspire just one young person to pick up a racquet that would be great and hopefully that has happened. Adcock believes that the Centre Parcs National Schools Badminton Championships is another initiative that can help get more young people playing badminton.

Georgie Twigg: Looking Forward To Finals Weekend

After exams exams and more exams its been a welcome return to all things hockey! Having stuttered at the start of the month with a loss and a draw we really needed to win our last two matches to have a chance of sneaking into the playoffs and qualify for Investec Finals Weekend on 21 April. After a fairly straightforward win against Slough we had to play Canterbury in our final match who were top of the league and needed a win themselves to clinch the league title. Tense does not come close and it was made all the more dramatic with snow coming down throughout the match. Leading 2-1 the last ten minutes were pretty nerve-wracking but we managed to hold on and are all absolutely thrilled to have made the playoffs and cant wait for a fantastic weekend of hockey (come and watch us!) - get your tickets here!!

It was such a great advert for amateur sport with loads of fans enjoying the drama despite the weather and supporting their teams. Obviously for all our joy we couldnt help feel for Canterbury who were visibly distraught by losing out on the title at the final hurdle.

Mario Diaz: Third Time Lucky

They have taken the 2016 concept as a base and it is a better concept now than it was then. Who knows maybe it'll be Third time lucky". This phrase belongs to Sir Craig Reedie International Olympic Committee (IOC) Evaluation Commission Chief after a four day visit to the Spanish capital. The subject: Madrid and our bid for the 2020 Olympics Games. The loss suffered in the past first to London and then to Ro de Janeiro made us stronger but the bid has lost some of its strength and lot of money. Many people think it's not the time to risk anything for the Olympics specially after IOC decided to ignore us in the past. Moreover considering the deep of our pockets. Crown Prince Felipe Spanish Olympic Committee President Alejandro Blanco (also bid president) and Madrid Mayor Ana Botella (yes Jos Mara Aznar's wife) were the three heavyweights trying to impress the hundred IOC members. Madrid had already finished almost a 90% of the necessary infrastructure for the Games and there is about 20 minutes between them in public transport. Madrid offers Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabu football stadium Atltico's La Peineta Olympic Stadium (still under construction) and Club de Campo Villa de Madrid - one of the Europe's oldest golf courses.

Darren Campbell On Winning A Gold Medal Olympic Legacy and His Other Love Manchester United

Sprinter Darren Campbell formed part of arguably the most successful spiriting team in British athletic history and speaking to Sportsvibe at the Sky Sports Living for Sport Awards where he is now a ambassador with Jessica Ennis he explains what it takes to reach the top. Campbell was a man for the big occasion and after winning a silver medal in the 200m during the 2004 Sydney Olympics he went on to win gold in the 4x100m relay and admitted he thrived on the big stage and winning medals obsessed him. First and foremost you have to decide whats important to you he said. And for me it was always about winning medals. I found it harder to reach my highest levels on the circuit and then produce my best at Championships. I always wanted to produce my best when it really mattered. The 39 year old also said representing his country was a huge motivation I loved representing Great Britain. It that inspired me and helped me handle the pressure and expectation. Having the countries weight on his shoulder was not something that he appeared to struggle with and says that is all down to the work his did away from the track.

Team GB womens hockey forward Alex Danson has told Sportsvibe that she is looking forward to the Investec London Cup in June after an incredible London Olympics. Danson was part of the Team GB side to win a bronze medal at the 2012 Games and ahead of returning to training next week she is hoping that they can build on last summers success. The Investec London Cup is our qualification for the World Cup and some of the best teams in the world will be there. It is a great opportunity on the back of London to keep the support going and pushing the sport forward. Hockey has had a huge growth in participation since the London Olympics and it had a huge affect on Danson It without question surpassed any expectations that we had as a team and I had as an individual going into it. It was so overwhelming and we all felt so proud to be British.

Gibbons won all of her fights in the 78kg pool but was critical of her self for not being as sharp as usual. Gibbons also spoke about her I love you mum moment after winning in London. "I didn't think anyone else saw it which sounds ridiculous" admitted Gibbons. But everyone's been really supportive. It's helped me cope and hopefully it's helped other people who've suffered the same loss. "

She was also grateful to her fianc fellow Olympian Euan Burton who was coaching her during the Championships. "He was coaching me today and it was great because he's a fantastic judo player. He was there to support me and I'm lucky that I get to tap into all his skills. "
