Haroon Khan (1-0) will be starting his American adventure sooner rather than later as he takes on Vicente Medellin (0-5) on the undercard of the Lamont Peterson vs. Lucas Matthysse clash this weekend in Atlantic City New Jersey. The younger brother of former Unified Super Lightweight World Champion Amir Khan got off to a winning professional start in his debut fight against Brett Fidoe last month in Sheffield England where he won a unanimous decision over four rounds. The 22-year-old will now be showcasing his talents on Saturday May 18 at Boardwalk Hall in a four round bantamweight clash against 25-year-old Medellin. Time permitting Khan vs. Medellin will be featured on SHOWTIME EXTREME in the United States. In the United Kingdom highlights of the bout or time permitting the bout in its entirety will be shown as part of Sky Sports 1 HD's coverage of the event on Sunday May 19 from 12. 30 a. m. BST. A 2010 Commonwealth Games Bronze Medalist Khan is ready for a tough encounter when he takes on the sturdy American and is looking to put on a dazzling performance in his second professional fight. Im really pleased to be fighting on such a big card in the United States so early in my career said Khan.

Richie Woodhall Believes Francesco Pianeta Could Be In For A Long Night As He Challenges Vladimir Klitschko On Saturday Night

Former WBC Super Middleweight Champion Richie Woodhall does not give Francesco Pianeta to much hope as he challenges Vladimir Klitschko for the WBA IBF IBO & WBO Championship belts. Pianeta is still undefeated in his professional boxing career winning 28 and tieing just one yet Woodhall cannot see him causing the Champion to many problems. No not really he said when asked if the Italian could pose any problems for Klitchsko. The only problem he will have is if he gets complacent. He said recently that he is finding it more difficult to get motivated to fight different contests. Although looking further a field at the Povetkin fight he will earn 17 million for that so his camp will tell him to get past this to hit the jackpot. But if the Povetikin fight wasnt there then I think there would be a big chance of complacency coming in. Although he may not feel Klitschko will threatened to much by PianetaWoodhall does believe he could get under his skin. I think Pianeta goes into it trying to make it as awkward as possible.

Khan Feeling Much Fitter After Low-Key Lifestyle

Amir Khan face former world champion Julio Diaz in his restoration fight today and the 26-year-old is hoping that his new found focus will pay off. Khan admitted that he may have been caught up in the celebrity lifestyle on offer in LA but has since changed trainers and adopting a new low-key lifestyle following successive world title defeats. Changing trainers from Freddie Roach to Virgil Hunter also meant a switch of camp from LA to across the bay from San Francisco he told the Daily Mail. That has given me a lower key lifestyle for which I feel much better. In LA there were constant invitations to celebrity events and I probably accepted too many of them. The same can apply to London when Im in the UK. Ive never gone wild or anything like that but I realise that even being out until midnight is no help in boxing. Both inside and outside the ring around Virgils gym it is very quiet. I havent gone over to San Francisco more than a couple of times since Ive been training there. Ive just been working and focusing on building up my strength and health.

Floyd Mayweather: Guerrero Has No Chance Of Beating Me

Roberto Guerrero has no chance of ending beating Floyd Mayweather when the pair meet on 4 May according to the man in search of his 44th career victory. Mayweather will be putting his WBC welterweight title on the line in Las Vegas when he faces his fellow American and expects the result to be no different than all of the other throughout his career. Mayweather told the Sun I know Guerrero has been campaigning to fight me for quite a while now and I am happy to give him his opportunity. His name is mentioned among the other great champions in boxing today and that means he has proven himself in the ring. He will now have to prove himself against me which is a whole other story. Im excited for the challenge and fully expect a good tough fight from him. However I do expect the same outcome for him as all of the others who have challenged me before. "

Although Guerrero believes that he could cause a huge upset Nothing has ever come easy to me and that mental fortitude has prepared me to defeat the one fighter everyone perceives to be the pound-for-pound king in Mayweather.

Amir Khan: Its A Fight I Need To Win"

Amir Khan has vowed he will never lose another professional boxing bout again as he prepares for his first fight in the UK for two years against American Julio Diaz next month in Sheffield. The former world light-welterweight champion and Olympic silver medallist has lost his last two fights to Danny Garcia and Lamont Peterson and understands that his career boasting 27 wins and now three defeats cannot afford any more setbacks. Its a fight I clearly need to win the 26-year-old year-old from Bolton admitted speaking from his training camp in Oakland California. If I do it will take me back to challenging for the world titles I once held. You can say its make or break time for me. Its the first time Ill be fighting in front of home fans for two years and I cant lose in front of them. In fact after the Garcia defeat Ive vowed never to lose another fight again. This time I wont cheat myself in training like maybe I have in the past. In fact I started training for this fight even before the fight was on and the official training camp began. Thats how motivated I am.
