Coast Brought to the Capital for the Inaugural London Surf Festival

This Saturday - July 16 - the coast will be coming to the capital for the first ever London Surf Festival.

Guests will be treated to live music, food and an all-round beach culture on the Thames and will be able to explore a surf show brimming with all the latest clothing and merchandise.

There will also be the 'VeeDub' wonderland where VW van enthusiasts can check out a gleaming array of vehicles available to rent and buy.

Stand Up Paddle Boarding, one of Britain's fastest growing sports, will also be available on the river for those that wish to give it a go. Popular amongst celebrities including Pierce Brosnan, tuition and equipment is free for anyone that wants to try it out. So if you want to ride the waves like James Bond, get yourself down to the Westminster Boating Base, Grosvenor Road on Saturday!

For those with an interest in surfing but have never had the opportunity to give it a go, land based lessons will also be available.

While you're down there enjoying the food, music and surf culture, you'll have the chance to enter the competition to win a surf holiday to either Sri Lanka, Portugal or Polzeath and even walk away with your very own liquid shredder Stand Up Paddle Board.

The main event kicks off at midday when an intrepid army of paddlers will battle it out on the Thames, between Battersea Power Station and Vauxhall Bridge in team relay and Stand Up Paddle Boarding sprint races.

The London Surf Festival will be supporting its nominated charity - Lifeworks - which introduces hundreds of children with autism and other learning difficulties to the thrill of surfing on beaches around the country.

So head down for an action-packed day of surfing, music and food and all for a great cause.
