HATTON KO'S RETURN TO THE RING

Ricky Hatton has revealed that he is unlikely to fight again as the former light-welterweight world champion now looks to progress his own promotion company.

The 31-year-old who also held the WBA welterweight title has been out of action since his defeat at the hands of Manny Pacquiao in May 2009. Hatton had hinted at a comeback but told BBC Radio Manchester a comeback was unlikely.

""You can never say never, but if I was to put my last pound on it I would say 'no, I think that's me done'," said Hatton. "I'm doing the promoting now and my goal is to try and make champions of my fighters.

"I've been retired, if that's what you can call it, for 16 months. I announced I was going to make a comeback and I came back off holiday and went into a training camp for three or four weeks, but it just wasn't the same.

"I've renewed my licence just in case one day I do wake up and think 'come on lets give it another go'. I think the licence off the top of my head is £60, so I think if I pay that and one day let's give it one more go then I am in a position to do so."

The 'Hitman' suffered his first defeat in December 2007 when he came up against WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather. After being outclassed for large portions of the fight many called for Hatton to walk away after a long and hard career.

Hatton then returned to action and dropped back down to light-weterweight where he beat both Juan Lazcano and Pauli Malignaggi. This set up a super fight against pound for pound king Pacquaio.

The fighter from the Philippines savagely knocked Hatton out in two rounds and what appears to be the Manchester fighters last bout.
