British athletes Richard Whitehead and Hannah Cockroft have both secured gold medals at the International Paralympic Committee Athletics World Championships, adding to Britain's increasingly impressive tally at the tournament.
Double-leg amputee Whitehead secured his gold in a T42 200m Championship record time of 25.88 seconds, devastatingly breaking from the field at the event in New Zealand.
"I was the underdog and that is how I like it," Whitehead revealed. "The opportunity was there and I wanted to smash it."
In the T34 100m women's event, Hannah Cockroft also claimed her second gold medal of the tournament - Britain's fifth - racing to a Championship record time of 18.98 seconds.
Cockroft had already secured her first gold on the opening day of the tournament in the T34 200m event, with the wheelchair athlete proving her abilities in the build up to the London 2012 Paralympic Games.
"I've continued to work hard on my start which is the weakest part of my race," Cockroft insisted. "I know that I've got the quickest top-end speed.
"I thought they'd be more on my tail, especially since my start is such work in progress, but I'm excited to win."
Both golds add to an impressive haul at the tournament for Britain thus far, a tally added to as Ben Rushgrove won silver at the T36 100m. Rushgrove achieved a personal best time of 12.25 seconds, impressively setting a new European record in the process.
"It went right down to the line because the guy has got such a great start," Rushgrove revealed. "Maybe the pressure got to me a bit, but that's what major championships are all about; there's no greater occasion."
Britain also grabbed a bronze in the T35-38 4x100m relay, then achieved the same prize in the women's F44/46 long jump when Stef Reid was agonizingly pushed from second into third place during the final round of jumps.
"I'm ashamed I lost it," Reid lamented. "The long jump is such a technical event and when I needed to be more technical I just couldn't find it, but there are positives. I'm proud of my second-round jump."
