Phil Taylor continued to dominate the world of darts on Sunday night as he claimed a third successive PartyPoker.net European Championship title.
The world number one was too much for Wayne Jones who only managed to win one leg in the final at the Stadthalle in Dinslaken.
Following on from his tight 11-10 win over Terry Jenkins in the semi-final, Taylor was in sublime form as he raced into a 7-0 lead. Jones was looking down the barrel of a whitewash defeat but the man from Wolverhampton responded with a superb 116 checkout to get his name on the board.
Taylor continued to dominate the one-sided encounter and proceeded to seal the match by checking out double 14. The Power has now completed a clean sweep of the major summer tournaments after winning the World Matchplay and the UK Open.
Speaking after the final Taylor described his joy at winning yet another title and picking up a cheque for 50,000.
"I'm delighted to win another title, especially so soon after winning the World Matchplay last week.
"This is one of the hardest tournaments to win because you you've got tough, short matches early on and three games in one day to win it. You have to be mentally and physically fit as well as playing well and I loved every minute of it."
Although Jones was soundly beaten in the final he will take heart from his performance in Germany where he beat exceptional players such as Raymond van Barneveld and Colin Lloyd.
Jones also qualifies for November's Grand Slam of Darts which is held in his home town of Wolverhampton.
