NFL Announce St Louis Rams Three Game London Move

NFL chiefs have announced that the St Louis Rams will be featuring regularly at Wembley Stadium, after agreeing a deal that will see them play a home game in London for the next three years.


It is seen as a huge step towards the creation of an international franchise team, as the sport continues to grow worldwide.

The Rams are due to face the New England Patriots in October, in what will be the sixth NFL International Series fixture in London.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell spoke about the "exceptional" UK fans and contented by saying: "We are confident that having the Rams host one game in the UK in each of the next three seasons will allow us to better serve the growing popularity of our sport beyond the borders of the United States."

While there have been questions about the current format of international fixtures, which see's the host team give up a home game, the Rams' commitment to a series of home games is seen as a positive step.

Arsenal boss Stan Kroenke, who also owns the St Louis Rams has fully embraced the move.

"This is a tremendous honor for our franchise, the city of St. Louis and our fans throughout the world," he said.


"We are excited about the opportunity to reach new audiences globally. This is a great platform to showcase the city of St. Louis to London and the UK.

"We've seen first-hand the increased popularity of the NFL not only in London but throughout Europe. To play a role in that growth over the next three years will be incredible and is a testament to the many good things happening not only in the NFL but also in the St Louis Rams organisation."
