The World Indoor Tug of War Championships will take place on 25th-28th February in Italy. The club competitions will take place on the first two days with the International event taking place on the second two days. The weight categories being contested are 560 kilos, 600 kilos, 640 kilos and 680 kilos, this being the combined weight of the 8 pullers. England will be represented in all four of the above weight categories. Rather than selecting a squad from various teams, England will be represented by the current national champions in each weight class. The teams are as follows: Norton TOWC from Stoke-on-Trent will represent England at 560 kilos and are currently the European Outdoor Champions at 600 kilos. Norton won the gold medal at 560 kilos at the national indoor championships in December to qualify to represent at this weight. Kilroe TOWC from Manchester will be represent England at 600 kilos. Kilroe represented England on 5 consective occasions at World Indoor Championships at 560 kilos, winning a gold medal for England on each occasion. Sheen TOWC from Staffordshire will represent England at 640 kilos, having won this weight, and four other weight classes at the national indoor championships. Raunds TOWC from Northamptonshire will represent England at 680 kilos. Raunds finished as runners up at the national indoor championships in December and are previous world champions in this weight class, winning the gold medal for England in 1997.
