On April 25th 2010, more than 35,000 runners will take part in the Virgin London Marathon. This year, for the third year running, the adidas WAP tracker system will allow over half a million supporters to track any of the runners as they make their way through the Capital. The innovative system will pick up the runners position every 5km and feed it back to supporters.
For the first time ever this year, the WAP tracker has been updated to allow each runner’s progress to be followed via an application on facebook at www.facebook.com/adidasrunning. The app will automatically update the runner’s position as they progress around the course and also allows supporters to see their race history at every 5km stage.
As in previous years, the WAP tracker can also be accessed via any WAP enabled mobile phone. Anyone wishing to use this service simply needs to text ‘RUN’ to 83040 after which adidas will send a link to the mobile tracking service.
WAP tracker will also give supporters a complete guide to the London Marathon course including the best viewpoints and how to navigate their way around the Capital on race day.
