Donald Aims to Seal Race to Dubai Title

Reigning world number one Luke Donald, who finished his season in America as the US PGA Tour money leader, is still on course to make history by doing the same in Europe.

With just this week's Hong Kong Open to go, Donald remains more than a €1 million ahead in the Race to Dubai standings heading into the season-closing Dubai World Championship in two weeks’ time.

Donald may only need a strong finish in Dubai to clinch the Race to Dubai title, unless  Rory McIlroy, currently in third, puts a spanner in the works by winning in Hong Kong.

Martin Kaymer, in second at the moment, is not planning to play in Hong Kong, so is effectively out of the race.

At the other end of the top 60, South African Hennie Otto moved up to No 56 after the South African Open, shifting others closer to the cut-off mark and edging someone out altogether.

At No 60 is Ireland's Peter Lawrie, who must be keeping a close eye on Scotland's Stephen Gallacher (61) and Peter Whiteford (63), England's Steve Webster (62) and rising star Tom Lewis (64).

Others in danger of being edged out in Hong Kong this week are Sweden's Christian Nilsson (59), Scotland Scott Jamieson (58), Paul Lawrie, still the last Scott to win a major (57), Otto (56) and Welsh young gun Rhys Davies (55).
