West Ham have completed a deal for Sunderland defender George McCartney who has re-joined the club on a two-year contract following a successful loan spell last season.
McCartney previously had a two year spell at Upton Park between 2006 and 2008, before having another successful spell with the club after joining on a season-long loan deal.
The left-back helped the club gain promotion back to the top flight at the very first time of asking and will hope to remain a fixture in the first team next season.
"I am delighted to be coming back to West Ham and this time on a permanent basis," McCartney told the West Ham official website.
"It was great to be part of the side that won promotion for the club last season. It was a fantastic way to end the campaign last year and I am really looking forward to being back in the Premier League with West Ham."
McCartney is the fourth signing of the summer from Sam Allardyce who has already completed deals for Stephen Henderson, Jussi Jaaskelainen and Mohamed Diame.
The 31-year-old was a regular in the first team last season as he made 43 appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal.
