Wesley Sneijder has urged his compatriot Nigel De Jong to join him at Inter Milan this summer.
De Jong has been frequently linked with moves away from the City of Manchester Stadium this summer, having made just 17 appearances in City’s Premier League winning campaign last season. A number of clubs have been linked with the hard-tackling Dutchman, including Bayern Munich and Roma.
But De Jong’s Dutch team mate Sneijder has been particularly vocal in singing 27-year-old De Jong’s praises, insisting that Inter consider a move for the midfielder.
“Inter must sign De Jong,” Sneidjer said, the Daily Mail report. “He's football mad. I know him well and he would be fit in here.
"De Jong is bravissimo. I've known him for seven years, we have grown together and I can assure you that he is crazy - in a good way - for football.” Sneijder added.
"If a match is at half-eight in the evening, he wakes up at eight in the morning and spends the whole day thinking only about how to win and give his best.
"On the pitch he always plays with heart and if he came to (Inter) Milan it would be a pleasure for me."
Manchester City’s developed interest in Roma’s midfield enforcer Daniele de Rossi has seemingly edged De Jong closer to the City exit in recent weeks.
