Standard Liege midfielder Axel Witsel is set to move to on of Europe's top clubs when the summer transfer window reopens for business according to the players father.
Witsel has had an impressive couple of campaigns with Liege and won the Belgian Young Footballer of the Year award in 2007-08.
A host of Europe's top clubs have shown an interest in the 22-year-old Belgian international including Italian giants Inter and AC Milan as well as Premiership sides, Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea.
However it is believed Arsenal are in pole position to gain the signature of Witsel, as a number of players are set to quit the Emirates in the summer, with Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri believed to be leading the exodus.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is an admirer of Witsel and believes the youngster will be able to help fill the void left by exiting players.
Speaking to Corriere dello Sport, Witsel's agents and farther said: "Axel is ready for one of the world's three major leagues: Seire A, Premier League and La Liga.
"I hope he has just finished his last season with Standard Liege.
"Axel has no pretensions, but his dream has always been to play in Arsenal. He just wants a club that is ready to believe in him."
This season Witsel made 36 appearances and scored 10 goals in the League as well as helping Standard Liege win this seasons Belgian Cup.
