Manchester City defender Kolo Toure has urged Robin van Persie to make the move to the Etihad this summer after it was revealed that he would not be staying with Arsenal beyond his current contract.
Toure made the decision to leave Arsenal for the Manchester club and it has certainly been vindicated after the FA Cup triumph two seasons ago and winning the Premier league title last season.
There are now five former Arsenal players on the books of Manchester City and Toure feels it would be a good move for Van Persie and a great addition to the current squad.
“Robin is a top player. I’ve played with him, I know him and he’s a great man,” Toure told the Manchester Evening News.. “At City we have great players and the club does what it wants in transfers.
“But, for me, if Robin comes it’s great because I know what he can do. You have to build your squad every year to do better. To win the Champions League is very difficult as we have seen.”
Arsenal are yet to make a decision on whether they will sell Van Persie this summer, or if they will keep him for another season and then let him leave on a free transfer.
Manchester City could well be moving on forwards Emmaneul Adebayor and Roque Santa Cruz, while there are suggestions that Edin Dzeko could also leave, meaning there would be room for Van Persie in the squad.
