Tottenham Winger Edges Closer to 'Sensational' Spanish Switch

Tottenham winger Giovani Dos Santos has revealed he wants to move to Spanish side Sevilla.

The 22-year-old moved to Spurs in 2008 but despite his obvious potential, he never managed to establish himself in the first-team. Loan spells to Ipswich, Galatasaray and Racing Santander followed and he now appears close to securing a permanent switch to Sevilla.

The Spanish club have been linked with a move for Dos Santos and the Mexico star is hopeful a deal will soon be concluded.

"I want to play in Sevilla," he told El Desmarque. "It is my main preference and this possibility exists but the subject is not closed.

"I am still in London but Tottenham desire my sale. My agent is working hard and I hope for a solution next week.

"I prefer La Liga to other countries," Dos Santos added. "I was happy with Marcelino in Santander and it will be sensational to repeat the experience with Sevilla - one of the best European clubs.

"To play next to Frederic Kanoute would be a pleasure."

Meanwhile, Tottenham are bracing themselves for another bid from Chelsea for talismanic midfielder Luka Modric.

It had been reported over the weekend that the Spurs board are divided over whether to allow the Croatian his desired move to their Premier League rivals.

Manager Harry Redknapp is reportedly prepared to let Modric leave while chairman Daniel Levy is determined to keep him at White Hart Lane.
