Tottenham the Favourites to Sign Manchester United Defender

Tottenham have emerged as the favourites to complete a deal for  young Manchester United definer Ezekiel Fryers whose contract expires at the end of this month.

Fryers has been unable to agree a new deal with Manchester United and is expected to leave the club after turning down an offer of £1,500-per-week at Old Trafford.

The Daily Mirror has reported how Newcastle were hoping to sign the defender, but it seems as though he would prefer to move to Tottenham.

Fryers was even handed his senior debut when he started a League Cup fixture against Leeds United in September but it seems as though he feels he would not have got many opportunities at United.

The 19-year-old made his Premier League bow against Wolverhampton Wanderers in December last year, just one month after he was handed his debut in the Champions League against Otelul Galati.

Fryers has the ability to play in the centre of defence, or at left-back where he would provide competition for Benoit Assou-Ekotto should he decide to make the move to Tottenham in July.

While Tottenham do not yet have a manager, after deciding to part company with Harry Redknapp, it seems they will still look to bring new players to the club.
