Tottenham Hotspur are set to miss out on rumoured striking target Burak Yilmaz, after it was revealed that Italian giants Lazio are set to agree a deal for his services.
According to reports on talkSPORT, Tottenham were monitoring the Turkish hitman, as they look to bring in a raft of new faces this summer, with a striker believed to be the number one priority.
With Emmanuel Adebayor's season-long loan deal now expired and Louis Saha having been released, Tottenham only have one established striker in their ranks in Jermain Defoe.
However, he is thought to be disillusioned at having been used sparingly last season, as then-Spurs boss Harry Redknapp favoured partnering Adebayor with Rafael van der Vaart in attack.
Yilmaz, who bagged 33 goals in 34 appearances for Super Lig side Trabzonspor last season, was thought to be a realistic target, but as Spurs focus on appointing a new manager, it appears as though Lazio have snapped him up.
Italian publication La Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Lazio and Trabzonspor are in discussions over the 26 year-old, with a fee of £5.2 million thought to be likely.
