Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp is set to battle Shakhtar Donetsk for the signature of Internacional striker Leandro Damiao, according to reports on talkSPORT.co.uk.
Spurs have been keeping tabs on Damiao for sometime now as he is from the same club where they brought Sandro from.
The 22-year-old striker is regarded as one of the hottest young talents in South America having scored 12 goals in 34 appearances last season and so far this term has scored 13 goals in 24 games
That form has led Damiao to be linked with a number of other top European clubs including Real Madrid and AC Milan.
It is believed Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk have now entered the race for the Brazilian international and are willing to make a £40million bid.
Tottenham may not be able to match the offer from Shakhtar, but the clubs chairman Daniel Levy has a close relationship with the Brazilian side after completing the deal for Sandro last year and that could be seen as an advantage for the Premier League club.
