Tottenham are believed to be interested in signing Atletico Madrid forward Adrián who is part of the Spain Olympic squad after impressing in La Liga last season.
Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is determined to add some extra firepower to his front line which currently consists of just Jermain Defoe after the release of Louis Saha.
Atletico Madrid know of the interest and have offered Adrián a far improved contract, but so far he has tuned down any new contract and it seems he is ready to speak with Tottenham.
The Spanish side are worried that the 24-year-old has already reached an agreement with Spurs, though there has no such suggestions from anyone involved in the deal.
Adrián scored just seven league goals last season but he is viewed very much as a support striker and would have certainly fitted the system Spurs employed last year where he could have played behind Emmanuel Adebayor.
A member of the Spain squad that won the UEFA European Under-21 Championships in 2011, and has since gone on to make two appearances for the senior side, scoring one goal.
