Tottenham Hotspur attacker Rafael van der Vaart has fuelled rumours that he could be on his way out of the club this summer, by admitting his admiration for former club Hamburg.
According to reports in the Daily Mail, the Dutch star could be bidding farewell to White Hart Lane, after speaking of his affection for the Bundesliga side, saying: "I am happy and I am surprised myself how much I still love Hamburg, currently however there is no contact.
"I spent three years living in Hamburg and had a wonderful time at HSV. My wife Sylvie works there and we have many friends who live in your country. In football you never know."
Van der Vaart has been an ever-present in the Tottenham Hotspur first XI since joining from Real Madrid in a cut-price deal in the summer of 2010.
However, following Spurs' failure to make the Champions League for next season, rumours have surfaced claiming that the 29 year-old is considering his future at the club.
The Mail continue by claiming that Schalke have already made an unsuccessful bid for £10 million to bring him back to Germany.
Van der Vaart was part of the disappointing Netherlands side which crashed out of Euro 2012 with zero points. The attacker was thought to be part of a dressing room split, after criticising Dutch boss Bert van Maarwijk's tactics.
