Tottenham Forward a January Target for Villarreal

Tottenham's out-of-favour forward Giovani Dos Santos is reportedly wanted by La Liga club Villarreal.

The Mexico international looked destined to leave Spurs last summer for Sevilla. However, the two clubs failed to agree a transfer fee and Dos Santos remained at White Hart Lane.

Since arriving at Tottenham in 2008 from Barcelona, the 22-year-old has struggled to cement a place in the first-team and has spent loan spells at Ipswich, Galatasaray and Racing Santander.

Dos Santos remains out-of-favour under Harry Redknapp this season, playing just 21 Premier League minutes in four substitute appearances.

And according to Spanish reports, the Spurs boss is ready to listen to offers this month with Villarreal heading the queue for his signature.

The Spanish club are enduring a miserable season and are currently second from bottom in the Primera Division, partly due to the long-term injury of star striker Giuseppe Rossi who has been sidelined since October.

And Spanish newspaper Las Provincias has claimed Villarreal are lining up Dos Santos as the man to fill in in Rossi's absence.

The report states that Sevilla remain interested while Espanyol are also keen and Redknapp will hope a bidding war ensues in an attempt to receive the maximum possible fee.
