Newcastle United could face a battle to keep striker Demba Ba at the club with the Daily Express reporting that Tottenham are interested in signing the Senegalese forward.
Spurs believe that they can land the player for just £7million as there is a clause in his contract, but Newcastle are desperate to convince him to sign a new deal after such an impressive start to life on Tyneside.
Ba has scored 16 Premier League goals and has become an instant hit with the Newcastle faithful as the club continue to push for a place in next season's Europa League.
The former West Ham man has struggled to replicate his early season form since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations but that has not stopped Tottenham from showing an interest in the striker.
The north London club could lose Emmanuel Adebayor in the sumer if they cannot striker a deal with Manchester City, while Louis Saha is also only at the club on a loan deal.
However, Newcastle boss Alan Pardew believes that Ba is happy at the club and will eventually decide to sign a new deal that will keep him there for some time.
“Demba has made it quite clear that he loves it here," Pardew told the Express. “I think the fans can play a big part in keeping him. If there’s a message I would like to put out, it would be that it would be nice for the fans to show that they want him to stay.’’
