Spurs Assistant Manager Says Real Madrid Striker Will Come in After Robbie Keane Leaves

Tottenham assistant manager Kevin Bond has expressed his confidence in bringing Emmanuel Adebayor to Tottenham on a loan deal before the end of the month.

"It looks like it is more than speculation," Bond explained to BBC's Football Focus show.

"He will be coming in to replace Robbie Keane, who has gone to Los Angeles (LA Galaxy). He would obviously strengthen our squad."

At the beginning of this week, it was reported that 31 year-old Keane would complete a deal with MLS outfit Galaxy for a fee of around £1.8 million subject to the Americans offloading Juan Pablo Angel.

With Peter Crouch and Jermaine Defoe failing to find their best form over the course of last season, Harry Redknapp has been under a bit of pressure to appease Lillywhites fans this summer.

Initially, at the height of press speculation regarding Luka Modric's north London exit, it had been thought that Redknapp would be able to snare Didier Drogba in a swap deal.

However, this has not materilaised and it now appears that Adebayor would be a far more realistic option.

Togolese international Adebayor signed for Manchester City from Arsenal in 2009 in a deal worth around £25million. However, he found himself way down the pecking order at Eastlands, behind the likes of Carlos Tevez, Mario Balotelli and

Edin Dzeko, The 27 year-old then spent the second half of last season on loan at Spanish giants Real Madrid where he helped the team win the Copa del Ray and made 22 appearances during his time at the Bernabeu, scoring eight goals in all competitions.

What is more, City boss Roberto Mancini has expressed his reluctance to pick Adebayor again, opening up the possibility for what would be a sensational Premiership switch.
