AS Roma are confident of holding onto Manchester City target Daniele de Rossi, as the midfielder prepares to make an announcement on his future this week.
Dynamic midfielder De Rossi has been a long-term target of Roberto Mancini, and the manager is keener than ever to bring his compatriot to the City of Manchester stadium. Speculation that Manchester City have a deal in place for the 29-year-old has picked up pace in the past week, but Roma coach Zdenek Zeman is confident that the talismanic de Rossi will ignore interest from the Premier League champions and commit himself to Roma.
"I am convinced that De Rossi stays with us," said Zeman, Sky Sports report.
"He is very important for us and the club has not asked me anything about him. I think he will remain.
"Has Mancini have ever called me? Several times, even when I was at Pescara last year. The last time I heard from him was three weeks ago. "
The Serie A club had previously stated that it would take a monstrous bid from Manchester City to tempt them into selling De Rossi, who has spent his entire career at his boyhood club. The Italy international has called a press conference for Tuesday afternoon, where he is expected to clarify the situation.
