Roberto Mancini Preparing Clear Out To Fund Move For Arsenal Captain Van Persie

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is preparing for a summer cull, as he looks to fund a move for Arsenal contract rebel Robin van Persie.

With Van Persie’s contract wrangle set to drag on throughout the whole summer, the Premier League champions are hoping to tempt him and Arsenal into a deal, as they prepare their squad for a raft of new faces.

According to reports in the Mirror, Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko is a £25 million target for Bayern Munich, while fiery Argentinean Carlos Tevez and out-of-favour hotshots Roque Santa Cruz and Emmanuel Adebayor search for new clubs.

Following nearly £1 billion of club investment, City’s owners have told Mancini that he needs to curb spending, and must sell some of the club’s players in order to reinvest during the summer.

As continued, Mancini is hoping to tempt Gunners captain Van Persie sooner rather than later, with reports that Italian champions Juventus are ramping up their own bid for the prolific marksman.

Arsenal are believed to have offered Van Persie a improved three-year deal, but the Dutchman is thought to want assurances that the club can push for silverware next season.

The Gunners have already brought in Lukas Podolski and are rumoured to be nearing a deal for Montpellier star Olivier Giroud.
