Tottenham are bracing for a battle with AC Milan in the January transfer window over Sporting Lisbon defender Joao Pereira, fanatix.com has claimed.
According to the entertainment site, Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is keen to recruit another full-back following Alan Hutton's departure to Aston Villa.
And the Englishman is reportedly an admirer of 27-year-old Pereira, who has been previously linked with a move to White Hart Lane.
However, it is reported that Milan are also showing an interest and will hope to make a swift move in the winter transfer window to beat off interest from Tottenham.
As Pereira's contract runs until 2014, Sporting are under no pressure to sell, but it is thought a tempting offer - in the region of £10m - could persuade them to part with the Portugal international.
Pereira began his career at Benfica before a short spell at Gil Vicente. He moved to Braga in 2007 and secured a€3m move to Sporting in December 2009.
