Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Luka Modric has emerged as a transfer target for mega-rich French club Paris Saint-Germain who are desperate to be competitive in next seasons Champions League.
PSG finished second in the league to Montepellier last season and are keen to further improve their sign, having already signed Ezequiel Lavezzi from Napoli on a four year deal.
Last season they managed to beat a number of European sides to the signature of Javier Pastore and it seems they are once again willing to compete with the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester United.
Both clubs have been strongly linked with Modric, but it seems as though PSG will attempt to persuade the creative midfielder that a move to Ligue 1 is the right option.
Tottenham last season turned down a number of bids and it is expected that they would demand as much as £40million for a player who still has four years to run on his current contract.
Much will depend on whether new Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas can persuade the midfielder to stay at the club and if PSG can make an offer that is simply too good to refuse.
