Arsenal’s new arrival Santi Cazorla has urged Arsene Wenger to bring in replacements for Robin Van Persie and Alex Song before the transfer window closes.
The £15 million signing from Malaga has seen the two high profile stars walk out from Arsenal since his arrival, as Van Persie ended his eight year stay at the club by sensationally moving to Manchester United for £24 million, while midfielder Song has agreed terms with Barcelona, and will join the Catalan giants this week in a £15 million deal, pending a medical.
Cazorla, who impressed in his Premier League debut despite Arsenal’s frustrating 0-0 draw with Sunderland Saturday afternoon, has called for his manager to enter the transfer market once again and bring in adequate replacements for the pair.
"It’s clear that he [Van Persie] is a great player, a spectacular player, and obviously we would all have preferred it if he had stayed,” Cazorla said following the draw, Goal.com report.
"Song has gone as well and there are still 10 days left in the market. Obviously it’s important to replace players. like that because they were so important for the team."
While Arsene Wenger has already stated that forwards Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud were brought to the club with Van Persie’s eventual departure in mind, the issue of replacing tenacious midfielder Song still needs to be addressed. The Gunners appear to be close to finally sealing the season-long loan signing of Real Madrid midfielder, Nuri Sahin, a move that would go some way to appeasing Arsenal fans concerned over their numbers in midfield.
BBC Sport report that Arsene Wenger’s side have beaten Liverpool to capture to 23-year-old, and the move is to be confirmed early this week.
