Manchester United striker Federico Macheda looks to be heading to Wigan Athletic on loan when the transfer window re-opens in January.
Macheda, who has found first team opportunities limited at Old Trafford this season, appears to be heading to the DW Stadium in order to maintain match fitness.
According to the Daily Mail, with Dimitar Berbatov returning to fitness and Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez ahead of him in the pecking order, Macheda is keen on leaving Old Trafford.
The 20 year-old striker spent the second half of last season on loan at Sampdoria, and was touted with a permanent switch in the summer.
The Italian's agent Giovani Ba recently confirmed that he spoke with United boss Sir Alex Ferguson about his plans for the player and concluded that a loan move would be the best solution for both parties.
