Out-of-favour Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov is reportedly close to agreeing a move to Russian giants Zenit St. Petersburg.
According to talkSPORT, the Bulgarian is looking to complete the move before the start of the new Premier League season, after being told he can find a new club.
The 31 year-old found his first team opportunities limited last season, following the emergence of Danny Welbeck and the continued presence of Javier Hernandez.
Despite his lack of Premier League starts, the 2010/11 top scorer managed seven goals in 12 league appearances last season, fuelling speculation that he was facing the exit.
Berbatov was due to leave Old Trafford on a free transfer this summer, but Manchester United triggered a clause in his contract, extending it by a further year.
Zenit are the latest club to be linked with the former Tottenham Hotspur star, with the likes of Bayern Munich, AC Milan and Galatasaray believed to be interested.
Berbatov had been touted for a shock return to Bayer Leverkusen, but it looks as though Zenit are in the driving seat to land his signature.
