Manchester United's €22m Target Flattered by Interest

Sporting Lisbon star - and Manchester United target - Ricky van Wolfswinkel had revealed he is pleased with the reports linking him with the Premier League champions.

The Dutch striker moved to Lisbon in the summer from FC Utrecht and has taken the Portuguese league by storm, scoring seven goals in 10 appearances.

Van Wolfswinkel's form has caught the eye of a number of big European clubs including Chelsea and United with assistant manager Mike Phelan revealing the club are watching the 22-year-old.

The player's agent even suggested his client could be available for a transfer, but only if his €22m buyout clause is met.

And the prolific striker has admitted he is pleased with the speculation, but has insisted he remains happy and focussed at Sporting.

"It is good that my name was linked to big clubs such as Manchester United and others in England, but I am really content and happy at Sporting," Van Wolfswinkel told Dutch radio station NOS.

"Things are excellent in every sense. I play for a good club and I am scoring goals because I am taking this satisfaction on to the pitch."
