Manchester United Reportedly Considering Move For Real Madrid Playmaker

Manchester United are rumoured to be considering a surprise move for Real Madrid playmaker Nuri Sahin, after reportedly growing frustrated over the protracted move for Lucas Moura.

According to Goal.com, Sir Alex Ferguson has turned his attentions to the Turkish maestro, after Sao Paulo reneged on their assertions that United could sign Moura for £30 million.

Sahin has only featured ten times for Madrid since his switch last summer, and while boss Jose Mourinho has offered him the pre-season campaign to fight for his place in the squad, it is thought that he could leave this summer for the right price.

The former Borussia Dortmund star, who was named Bundesliga player of the year in his final year in Germany, is thought to be available for around £20 million, and could prove to be a shrewd, if expensive acquisition for Manchester United.

The 23 year-old's future at the Bernabeu looks uncertain, and with reports that Tottenham Hotspur star Luka Modric is close to sealing a deal to Madrid, Sahin could find first-team opportunities restricted further.

His ability both in attacking and more central midfield positions would offer Ferguson options in the second third of the pitch and match a similar role to that which Moura would occupy at Old Trafford.
