Manchester United Lead Chase for Scottish Starlet

Manchester United are tracking the progress of Dundee United youngster Scott Allan.

The 19-year-old midfielder caught the eye of a number of clubs with a series of impressive performances for Scotland's under-21 side in the summer and he has continued his fine form into the SPL season.

And, according to skysports.com it is thought that Manchester United are one of the clubs monitoring his situation.

Martin Ferguson was in the stands when Dundee United faced Dunfermline in August in the hope of watching Allen in action but the youngster was not included in the squad.

However, the fact that Sir Alex Ferguson sent his brother, and most trusted scout, to watch Allan is a clear indication of his interest.

The teenager's contract is due to expire at the end of the season and he is yet to agree new terms with Dundee United.

Should he leave Scotland for the Premier League, United would still be due compensation but it would be minimal.

Glasgow rivals Celtic and Rangers are also reportedly interested but the chance to move to England could be too good an opportunity to resist.
