Man United Angered by Welbeck Wage Demands

Danny Welbeck has angered Manchester United by demanding a rise to £60,000-a-week when he signs his new contract, according to the Daily Mail.

The 21-year-old has impressed since returning from a loan spell at Sunderland and is now considered an important member of the Manchester United first team squad.

Welbeck has already scored eight goals for United this season and is now asking for an increase in his ages, as he is currently on £15,000-a-week.

The Mail believes that Manchester United were willing to treble the strikers wages and offer him close to £50,000-a-week, but the players representatives believe he should be offered far more.

United have a very strict wage structure and do not want to rock the boat as they currently have a crop of impressive youngsters all on similar wages. Phil Jones and Chris Smalling both earn £50,000-a-week. while Tom Celeverley is on £40,000 per week.

Welbeck will enter the final 12 months of his contract in the summer and so far it seems contract negotiations have stalled with United feeling that Welbeck is being badly advised.

United will hope that a deal can be agreed as the young England striker has proven that he has plenty of talent at the very highest level.
