Liverpool Handed Boost as Skrtel Rules out Napoli Transfer

Liverpool will be pleased to hear the comments from Martin Skrtel's agent who has indicated that it is 'almost impossible' for Napoli to convince the defender to leave Anfield.

There has been growing speculation that the Italian side would offer Skrtel a route out of Liverpool after a disappointing campaign in which the club finished eighth in the league.

Skrtel was voted the Liverpool player of the season and was said to be unhappy with the performance of the club, but it seems he will be staying at the club for the foreseeable future.

Manchester City had also been linked with the Slovakia international, but his agent Karol Csonto has made it clear that Liverpool have no intention of letting the defender leave.

"It is difficult, almost impossible, for Napoli to take Skrtel," Csonto told Radio Crc, as reported on Sky Sports. "He has another two years on his contract with Liverpool.

"Martin is a top player and it is obvious that many clubs are looking at him, but for now Skrtel remains a Liverpool player."

Skrtel formed an impressive partnership with Daniel Agger last season and with the Dane already signing a new contract, it is hoped that his defensive partner will remain at the club for some time as well.
