Liverpool Could Swap England Winger For Belgian Superstar

Lille have rejected suggestions that midfield sensation Eden Hazard will be on his way to Liverpool at the end of the season.

Reports have been linking the Merseysiders to a pre-contract agreement with the French champions over the 20-year-old, following the loan deal which sees Joe Cole heading to the continent.

Hazard had been linked with Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal during the summer transfer window, but a move failed to materialise, after Lille general manager Frederic Paquet confirmed the Belgian would remain in France.

Cole opted to join Lille on a season-long loan after becoming surplus to requirements at Anfield. The England international was offered the chance to join Queens' Park Rangers on a similar deal, but believed Champions' League football was a more attractive prospect.

There are rumours that the deal includes the chance for Lille to make Cole's move permanent at the end of the season, with Hazard moving in the opposite direction.

However, Pacquet has rebuffed these suggestions by telling the Independent: "There is no link between Joe Cole and Eden. There has been no discussion.

"We know Eden Hazard is interesting some of the best clubs in Europe, but he is here and part of the project."
