Liverpool attacker Dirk Kuyt could be used as a makeweight in a reported move for Fiorentina winger Juan Manuel Vargas.
According to reports in the Metro, the Reds, who have been linked with the Peruvian for a number of months are hoping to use out-of-favour Kuyt as part of a deal to land their man.
Fiorentina are believed to be interested in bringing the Dutchman to Italy, after it was reported that Kuyt was free to look for a new club after finding his first team opportunities limited last season.
Despite Liverpool now under the stewardship of new boss Brendan Rodgers, it is believed that Kuyt has played his last game for Liverpool, with a number of clubs, including German side Hamburg, thought to be keen on the 31 year-old.
One club he will not be joining though is former side Feyenoord, after Kuyt said his high wages would damage the Eredivisie’s financial structure.
