Despite the fact that Barcelona have been courting Cesc Fabregas for some time now, their bitter rivals Real Madrid have tabled a shock €50 million bid for the Arsenal captain.
Though Fabregas' agent Darren Dein has informed any potential suitors that his client would only leave The Emirates for the Nou Camp, Jose Mourinho has not been put off.
According to Catalan daily newspaper Sport, Real's offer has greatly exceeded the latest offering from Barcelona, which stands at €30 million.
Over three seasons in the Premier League at Chelsea, Mourinho has had a first-hand glance at the talents of Fabregas.
Following a rather disappointing season for the self-appointed 'Special One,' in which he only managed to grasp silverware in the form of the Copa de Rey, some steady improvement will be expected in order to appease the Bernabeu faithful.
For this reason, the mercurial Portuguese boss will be under some pressure to make a robust challenge for both the La Liga and Champions League titles.
Still just 24 years-old, Fabregas has a great deal to offer to European football.
Vastly experienced in spite of his tender age, the Spaniard has 58 international caps to his name thus far and would offer a spark of creativity to the Madrid midfield.
