GB QUALIFY FOR EUROBASKET FINALS

Great Britain qualified for their second successive European finals with a 94-85 overtime victory over Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Chicago Bulls star Luol Deng once again proved the difference maker as the NBA forward contributed 38 points and 13 rebounds. Britain's other star on the night was Pops Mensah-Bonsu who maintained his superb form with 32 points and a massive 21 rebounds.

With just 19 seconds remaining GB found themselves two points down but Menshah-Bonsu landed two free throws to take the game into overtime. Britain dominated the extra period and were able to celebrate reaching the finals in Lithuania.

GB Coach Chris Finch was delighted with the display which he hopes will earn his team the right to play in the 2012 Olympics, something that has yet to be confirmed by the world governing body FIBA.

"We've met every performance marker they've laid down. We believe we're entitled to our rightful spot by the way we play."

Finch also praised the character shown by the team who have lost just once throughout the qualifying campaign. "Our team has great character. We all believed we could win every game even when we were down late.

"We responded well and made the hustle plays. Drew [Sullivan] got good stops, Pops made some huge plays and Luol was superb for us. But over all we have a mentally tough group of players."

GB's win was also witnessed by Deng's former Chicago Bulls team-mate Ben Gordon who flew in especially to see the game. The Detroit Pistons guard was born in London and is eligible to play for the team.

Britain will be hoping to have both NBA stars available for the European finals which take place next year.
