Everton Favourites to Land West Brom's Out of Contract Defender

Everton could be close to landing a deal to sign West Brom defender Jonas Olsson after the Swede decided not to sign a new contract with the Premier League club,

The 29-year-old has been a vital part of the West Brom team again this season but with manager Roy Hodgson leaving the club in the summer to join England it seems he may be after a change.

The Daily Mirror has reported that Everton are keen to sign the defender and with just 12 months remaining on his current contract, West Brom may be forced to sell rather than lose him on a free.

The paper believes that the giant centre-back would like to leave for a bigger club after four seasons at West Brom where he has played more than 120 league games.

Olsson is a regular member of the Sweden squad and is set to travel to Ukraine and Poland for the European Championships where he could make a decision on his future.

Everton do not have huge funds to spend in the summer and know that with just one year left on his contract they may be able to pick Olsson up in a relatively cheap deal.
