Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has confirmed that he will remain at the west London club despite interest from Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua.
The Ivory Coast International, who is currently on duty at the Africa Cup of Nations, has just one year left on his contract and had been linked with an exit in the January transfer window.
However, the 33-year-old has confirmed that he will remain at Stamford Bridge until the end of the season when Chelsea have announced that they would like to offer him a new one year contract.
The striker was asked whether he would consider leaving the club this month but dismissed any transfer talk about a January exit by saying a transfer would not happen "before June".
Shenhua, who recently signed former Drogba's former strike partner Nicolas Anelka from Chelsea were hoping to persuade the striker to also make the move to Chine.
It is believed that they were willing to offer Drogba a three year contract but with the forward already free to talk to other clubs it seems a transfer this season will be extremely unlikely.
