Clark Admits No Contact Made Over Vacant Leeds Job

Huddersfield manager Lee Clark has made it clear that there has not been any contact from Leeds United as the club look to find a replacement for the recently departed Simon Grayson.

Leeds sacked Grayson earlier in the week and the bookmakers immediately made the former Newcastle midfielder the favourite to land the job.

Clark has earned rave reviews this season as he has guided Huddersfield to second place in the table as they look to secure automatic promotion to the Championship.

The terriers lost in the play-off final last season to Peterborough and the 39-year-old has admitted that he is not surprised with his name being linked to a number of managerial jobs in the last 12 months.

"I am aware of it, but ultimately it is the same as last time," Clark told the Huddersfield Examiner. "I am not trying to blow my own trumpet, but it is because people outside our football club think I am doing a good job.

"I have been linked with a number of jobs over the past 12 months but I think that is because our record backs that up.

"We have only two defeats in 53 league games, the value of the squad is hugely higher than when I came to the club and the corporate side of the club is going through the roof which is only down to the way the team plays.

"I don't think I'm too bad a manager really and that's why people are interested I think.

When asked directly if he was interested in the vacant Leeds job, he said: "It's just speculation. Until I am told otherwise, I am the manager of Huddersfield Town."

Huddersfield take on promotion chasing MK Dons at the weekend and will hope to move three points clear of third placed Sheffield Wednesday who play Yeovil.
