Chelsea to Make Last Ditch Bid for Tottenham's Modric

Chelsea are ready to make an offer for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Luka Modric after missing out on the player last summer.

The west London club had three bids turned down for Modric this time last year but are now once again considering making an offer as the midfielder has once again been linked with a move away from Spurs,

Both Manchester United and Real Madrid have ben heavily linked with the creative midfielder, with the Spanish side said to be ready to make an offer in the coming weeks.

However, according to the Daily Mail, Chelsea chairman Roman Abramovich has given the go-ahead for the club to make an offer for Modric as they believe Tottenham may be willing to sell in order to bring in their own new players.

New Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas has been heavily linked with a move for Portugal international Joao Moutinho, while there is a belief that they all still like to complete a deal for Manchester City's Emmanuel Adebayor.

Adebayor could cost as much as £15million and Tottenham are desperate to bring another striker to the club as Jermain Defoe is the only senior forward remaining at the club.

Tottenham are yet to indicate whether they would be prepared to sell Modric as there is yet to be an official offer for the Croatia international.
