Chelsea Set to Complete £8m Deal for Belgian Starlet

Racing Genk have confirmed they are in talks with Chelsea over the transfer of midfield starlet Kevin De Bruyne.

The highly-rated Belgium international was wanted by the Blues last summer, but talks eventually broke down and the player remained at Genk.

Chelsea have maintained their interest in the 20-year-old and according to Sky Sports a deal worth £8m is expected to be concluded in the coming weeks.

Genk revealed that director of sport Dirk Degraen has flown to London to complete negotiations with the Blues.

It is expected that De Bruyne will then return to Genk for the remainder of the season on a loan deal so that he can continue to pick up experience in the first team.

"Dirk Degraen is in London and the expectation is that it (the transfer of De Bruyne) will be finished this week," a Genk spokesman said.

"The assumption is that Kevin de Bruyne will be transferred to Chelsea and then will finish the season (on loan) at Genk."

Once the deal is completed, De Bruyne will become Chelsea's third Belgian import in the last six months having signed former teammate goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and striker Romelu Lukaku from Anderlecht.
