Queens Park Rangers' chances of signing Alex appear to be diminishing after the Chelsea defender's agent revealed he has set his sights on a move to Paris St Germain.
According to Sky Sports, the Brazilian centre-half held talks on Wednesday with the wealthy French club, although an official offer has yet to be made to the Blues.
QPR manager Mark Hughes revealed last week that he was in discussions with Alex over a potential move to Loftus Road, but admitted concluding the deal would be tricky.
"I think talks [with Alex] are ongoing," Hughes said following his side's FA Cup victory over MK Dons.
"I spoke to the boy yesterday and went through what we're trying to do here and my feelings towards him as a player. I have a huge regard for what he could do for us here. Things have to fall into place before you can get the player over the line."
However, it seems Alex would prefer a switch to the French capital with Sky Sports claiming that a move is likely if PSG agree a fee with Chelsea.
Alex's agent, Giuliano Bertolucci, told L'Equipe: "We didn't receive any official offer from PSG.
"At the current stage, it is only talks, but they have started well. Alex has a big desire to join PSG."
Alex signed for Chelsea in 2004 before spending three seasons at Dutch side PSV for work permit reasons.
Following the departure of Ricardo Carvalho to Real Madrid, the 29-year-old cemented his place as John Terry's central defensive partner until the arrival of David Luiz last January.
Since Andre Villas-Boas' appointment last summer, Alex has struggled to break into the first-team and he was told he could leave in January if a suitable offer was made.
