Chelsea Could Tie Up Deal For French International Striker

Chelsea have been handed a boost by attacker Nicolas Anelka, who has dismissed suggestions from current boss Andre Villas-Boas that he is ready to quit Stamford Bridge, instead claiming that he is content in West London.

Anelka has suggested that he could still sign a new deal at the club, despite his advancing years and the glut of forwards at Chelsea’s disposal. The 32-year-old French forward has a deal that expires at the end of the current season, but he is unwilling to rule out resigning a new deal to prolong his stay with the Blues.

“I am linked everywhere but, when you are linked, it doesn't mean you want to leave," Anelka told Chelsea’s official website.

"I like Chelsea and first of all wanted to stay -- that's why I am still here. I will see what happens in December and, if I am still here, I will see what happens in June.

"I am happy here, I like the club, everyone here, and, after, I will see what happens. It is not only down to me.

"I have been here almost four years now, and I am pleased with the way it has been. It could have been even better but I am still happy."

Anelka looked destined to leave Chelsea whilst they were under the management of Carlo Ancelotti, but the Italian tactician’s sacking offered Anelka a new opportunity to thrive at the club.
